So I'm new to Plasma but not CNC. I'm just using the torch on an existing machine to cut some tube miters. The problem I don't know what gcode is used for plasma, such as pausing for piercing and so on. If any one can post a simple gcode file for a plasma cutter I'd appreciate it. a simple circle or anything will do. Also never having done plasma before I take it if I lead it from the edge that I don't need to do a piercing with a special height and pause? Thanks. |

| You can write your own G-code if you have time to burn. A better way might be to get a CAM program that has plasma features like SheetCAM. It puts in all of the special codes you need. The pause for example is standard G04. The heights (based on knowing where the torch is) are just Z moves with G00 or G01. Then you may need lead-ins and to figure the kerf offset for an accurate cut. Tube miters sound easy but it depends on how well you want the fit and what angle you want to miter to. |
