| OK let's see just how ignorant I am. What the heck is a point-to-point machine and how does it contrast to an other than p2p machine? robotic regards, Tom |

| here is what they look like http://www.huester.co.za/wood_cnc_alberti1.html http://www.biesseusa.com/biesseusa/p...se/rover24.htm A PtoP machine is a machine with pods or stations that allow pre-cut pieces of wood to be place on one side of the machine. And allows another piece to be place on the other side. So the machine is continually maching parts. The machine uses Pods that suck down the board and hold it while it gets machined.

| Hmm.... I think I'd prefer to describe it this. A PtoP CNC router is the offspring of a PtoP drilling machine - a multi-headed CNC drilling machine designed to drill cabinet sides (32mm system) quickly. I think the point-to-point monniker came about because the drilling points are described as X/Y co-ordinate and depth of hole and the machine moved from "point to point" to drill dowel holes, screw holes, hinge pockets. Later machine makers started to add one then more router spindles and saw heads in order that the machines could profile edges of stock and saw grooves for cabinet backs. Just my two pennorth

| The machine we have (Masterwood 327) has 21 vertical spindles, 6 horizontal spindles, a grooving saw and 2 9HP Router spindles, one with a 5 position tool changer. This versus a cnc router, which usually has, a router. Gerry

| I run the same sort of thing. Biesse Rover 335 - 24 vertical/8 horizontal spindles and three router spindles.
