I hope some of the experts here can guide me through this process. I finally got to where I can really use my machine with confidence. I now need to drill ....... Well, I learned something this weekend. The 1/4 collet that came with my Porter Cable 890/8902 motor isn't really meant to hold drill bits. I needed to drill .201 holes, and managed to get the collet to hold the bit, but in the end the collet was ruined. Man, I really struggled to get the collet out and the bit is in the trash can too... the whole thing was a nightmare. So, I need to be able to drill holes, and I'd like to use drill bits to do it. I'd like to be able to use the router as well. Is there an adapter for the Porter Cable that will hold drill bits? If not, what is the solution for drilling holes? I dread the thought of having to remove the router and put something else in its place.. I want to drill the right way...and be safe. |

| What I have learned is that I need to purchase drill bits that have the right size shank for the collet. I was hoping to get something like a drill chuck, but I think the rpms I am running make that a "not so good idea" So, I found precise bits website and the owner has been guiding me along. |

| Most drill bits should not be run at router speeds. The easiest thing to do would be to route the holes with a 3/16" bit. Or, as you found out, buy Precise Bits 1/8" PC collet, and they're drill bits rated for 20K RPM operation.
