Can anyone tell me what I would need to do, to power a kress on my 110v in the usa? I've looked for foreign power converters, but the only one's I can get my hands on convert the wrong way. US to Euro. Plus I really don't know what the heck I'm looking at. I would greatly appreciate any help or a point in the right direction. I really want to get one and try it out. Thanks! |

My Kress motors came as 110 volt. I have two pictures of mine in the gallery, one shows part of the 110 sticker. http://www.cnczone.com/gallery/data/..._Collector.JPG Do you have a 220 volt Kress already?? See this link; http://www.kress-elektrik.de/en/prod...?categorie=767 Seems they changed their models from mine. |

| I don't have one as of yet. I just received a email from Techno Isel saying they have a 110v version of the 800W for around $280. Seems kind of high when I see this link on ebay for $162 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=280062047868 The only thing is it states this... 2,5 m mains cable with Euro 2 pin plug I don't even know what that means heehee... Is that a debece router that you have? Looks nice from what I can see. |

| Steve, It might be worth your while to replace the control with Mach3 & an appropriate breakout board. A 3-axis machine running steppers...is a 3 axis machine running steppers. Nothing special about the machine you bought. If the steppers are mis-matched, I am sure that you can replace them as well with any number of steppers out there, like the Tormach Nema 23 ones. If you ran Mach3, you could buy any number of breakout boards, such as the ones offered by Bob Campbell, and wire up the step & direction signals off of the Nanotec drivers to the breakout board. There's not a whole lot more to it than that...then you'll have your choice of any number of cad/cam programs out there with a Mach3 post processor available for just about everything...Anyway, that's what I would do. The machine hardware doesn't make much difference. 3 axis is 3 axis. -Brady |

Hi Steve... I also have just purchased what I believe is a Debece from a seller on eBay. It have three diffrent size motors just as you have described and a Kress router. The machine is in beautiful like new condition. It came with WinPC-NC software but no instructions. Most information I have found is German. Is the instructions you have in a PDF? If so could you be so kind to send me a copy? I have some images in Corel that I'd like to start testing with but I have no idea how to get the drawings from one program to the other. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. |

Hi, Attached is email that I recieved back from the software author in 2005. ============================== Dear Mr. Stram, many thanks for your mail and for using our software. Please find the new software in attachment. Do not forget to update the firmware in the axis controller as well. Please feel free to contact us again. Best regards B.Lewetz Burkhard Lewetz Hard-Software Brueckenstrasse 7 D-88074 Meckenbeuren Tel. ++49-7542-21886 Fax ++49-7542-3889 eMail info@lewetz.de Homepage www.lewetz.de Am 24 Jul 2005, um 10:03 hat Steve geschrieben: ===================================== The files he sent me are attached to this post. You will set the distance per pulse through the controller software. It took me a couple of times to get that right. I would suggest you get use to working in metric, as the english units don't always seem to translate right. Being my machine uses a serial interface, I am planning to change over to a new controller that will interface with Mach3 CAM. Most likely the Hobby CNC kit. Only in the past 2 months (since 2005) have I been able to concentrate on the machine for continuous periods of time. My use to date is almost entirely 2-D cutting of wood. I create the model in Bob-CAD and use the CAM feature to generate the g-code. Bob-CAD made a post processor for the Win-PCNC software interface. I didn't put much effort into the HPGL or PLT file method, but would be interested in any success you have. |

| Hi Steve... thank you for the quick response... and a BIG thank you for the instruction manual! most of my measurments are already in metric so i think I will jet resolve myself to using that system. Thanks for the tip! My machine also has a serial port interface so if you change over please keep me posted on your results. I just got the machine yesterday and hope to make some progress over the weekend. I plan to use the machine to make solid body guitars and custom neck inlays. So the 3rd Z axes will be a necessary step for me. Do you think it would be possible to use another (3d) software? I mean all this gets translated to coordinates and plunge depths anyway right? This is all part of the controller? and it interfaces the machine with the software? This may seem like a silly questions but what does it look like? where on my machine can I find it? If I wanted to use a different software would I have to change it? I was able to find some DFX and DWG files already complete of standard guitar body shapes. Is their any way I can import or use these files with the WinPC-NC software that you know of? I know this is a lot and I'll likely have to learn the hard way thanks so much for your help. |

Okay I got a deal on a Debece that came with WinPC-NC however I have not had any luck. WinPC-NC software to me sounds a lot like Mach3 as they each clam to turn your PC into a controller. Not that I know anything about Mach3 but they do have a lot more support and larger community. Has anyone used Mach3 on their Debece CNC? Will it work? Would I have to make any other modifications? Thanks |

| The WINPC-NC is very popular in Europe, expecially Germany. It seems they use HPGL files quite often. Essentially with HPGL the CNC works like the old school gantry pen plotters. HPGL seems to only use pen-up and pen-down, so any real 3D is beyond me. Biggest issues with Debece and WINPC-NC are the serial cable connection and the dedicated controller with firmware. You either need to learn the system in place or replace all or it to the stepper motors. The learning curve was not pretty for me, but I had the time. I am creating g-code through BCC. The ISO g-code set needs to be very limited and it took some time for me to figure out how to avoid crop circles. Using another software that may not be a problem. If you can afford it, I would reccomend you buying a complete system of opto isolator, breakout board and motor controllers. I will be doing this in the next 90 days. This can be as cheap as under $100 in kit form from Hobby CNC if you feel confident in soldering. Otherwise there are quite a few turnkey systems. That way you can use any of the common CAM programs like as DeskNC, TurboCNC, Machx directly. I have no complaints about the Debece machine mechanically and the Kress router is world class. I see on-line that the newer ones from Germany have two x-axis stepper motors instead of the belt driven opposite side. Mine came with the dust collector and limit switches. |
