What can you tell me about this MAZAK cnc mill?

Hi,

This is the CNC mill in question.

Now this is on feeBay for $8500AUD at the moment. Now it looks like one big mother. Weight is 4200kg about 8000lbs.

Cnc ready to go, with manuals etc... all for only $8500 so far.

Has a 5hp motor as well.

Now If I was to convert a standard knee type mill with a 5hp head to cnc with say Mach3. I'd have to buy servos, ballscrews, drivers, software, etc etc etc. So the cost would be a lot more that this old MAZAK if it sells at this price.

And.......toolchanger 3seconds...! hoot!

Has anyone got any more info on one of these type of machines? in particular any videos of one working to get an idea of what they are capable of?



Just scratching my head with the fact you might be better off getting an old hunk of iron rather than new. Then can always retrofit existing cnc components.

For hobby stuff at home......but if you could pick up something like this cheap, wouldn't that offer so much more.....?
