Well it may have had meaning in the 60's but that era has come and gone. So when my flaky Hitachi Seiki VK45 Jap-eng manual defines the amout of "Part program storage & editing" as 400m. "m" as in meters of punch tape. Makes it a little tough to convert to bytes, charactors or anything else. Anybody have a clue? If memory serves (sorry for the pun) punch tape has one byte per line of holes and about 8 lines per inch. So 400m would be about 1600 inches or about 12,600 bytes, two bytes per charactor so 6,300 letters. Average 20 char per block so mayby 300 blocks?Sound close? Anybody know how to add memory to a Seicos II? And calling "your local distributor" won't do for an answer! (grin). Besides, I already tried that, they were not impressed with my 20yr old baby. That translates to "if we have to look that crap up it is gonna cost you big time Buba"!!!! Dan |
