Biesse rover 36 postprocessor

We are in the moment in the opportunity to buy a Biesse rover 36 router with a CNI controller. (1989)

Our plan is to make stair parts with it.

Because we make small series of stairs and every stair is unique we don't want to program this machine in machinecode because this takes to much time. We are thinking to make DXF files for the stairparts and convert them to machine code with a program like Alphacam.

We have the following questions

Is it possible to create the specific files in this way for this machine ?
Is there a post processor for this machine ?
Is there a way to retrofit this machine to mach3 controller ?
What program can we use to produce machinecode for the Biesse 36

Buy me a Beer?

I think it would be difficult to convert it to Mach3, and not worth the trouble if it's currently working OK.
As for converting .dxf's to Biesse code, check into www.cadcode.com

Yes, you will be able to create the specific files for this machine this way.

I am not sure if AlphaCAM has a post or if they can customize a post for you or how much it would cost. I do know that Dolphin CAD/CAM can and will customize a post processor for the CNI controller software and can handle the parts that you are machining.

You can use the Mach3 Controller software with this machine, but as said above, if it works why change it.

Again Dolphin CAD/CAM will work either way. With the CNI controller software or the Mach 3 Software. Which ever you chose to use.

Hello.
Did you solve your problems concerning BIESSE rover 36 postprocessor ?
If not please let me know.
As far as I know this machine needs programs in XNC-format.
I know severeal solutions working with/providing this format.

Actually, that era and model Biesse will either have an SY4 , NC481 or RT480 control. If the later two, programming at the control may not be as slow as you think. Please define "unique" ? Is every attribute of every stringer different or does it just vary by size? Is every individual tread different or does it vary from job to job with your company offering 10-15 basic geometrys which may have size variance? If so, and depending on the control, you can create a parametric program that will make "families" of similar parts by just changing variables.
Feel free to contact me via email for further assistance at ntek1@aol.com or at www.cnccustomservices.com
Kindest Regards,
MarkT

Thumbs down rover

I have worked on Bessie's for 10 yrs now. I am familiar with the 342. Keep in mind this this is a 20 yr old machine with 20 yr old technology. My advice is keep your money and don't buy someone else's problem. You could probably made this work, but it would not be cost effective.

manual for rover 36

Hi. We buy Rover 36 and have a problems with basic starting with work. We have manuals on German language and that's one of reason why we can not start with work.
Can anyone send me the English manuals for this model rover 36.

Thanks.

Ninj

Try going to Bodcad.com and download the demo of v21 not v22 because they do not have a post in v22 for the 480 but they do for the v21.

then go to the support pages and go to the post processor pages for v21 and download the 480 processor from the biesse page.

then after doing all this send me a private message and i can help you out with other things regarding the software.

Jeremy

Hello Chad,
We have 11 Biesse Rover 36's, all around 1988 vintage. All we've been able to do is hard code, line by line, at the machine which makes the 11 machines obsolete for new programs. Any info you could give me regarding a post processor and transferring files directly to the machines would be much appreciated.

Dave.
