Looking to upgrade my current CNC and was looking for input a couple machines. To start I only have about 45k-50k so my choices are limited. I am looking for a 4x8 machine with an ATC. The Techno HDS series is just slightly out of my price range but... My bit supplier mentioned that he hears many of his Multicam customers grumble about problems but...I talked to the Multicam rep at the Vegas show last year and he never got back to me. Went on line filled out their form and still no response. I figure if I can't get anywhere trying to buy one what will happen when I have a problem? Laguna seems to have the worst reputation. The Cammasters look light to me? Spoke with Omnitech rep and it appears that may have a new model coming out later this year in the 45k range but putting a new CNC in the shop during the busiest time of year seems like a disaster waiting to happen. Seems like all of the manufacturers except Laguna have pretty good customer service.
I need something that will run G code as I am using VcarvePro and would like to try and minimize any learning curve. I don't cut many cabinets but would like to do more of that if I had a better machine. Currently I cut a lot of solid wood, copper, aluminum, plastics and some sheet goods mostly 2d stuff but I do have a couple carving projects I cut from time to time.
I really am not looking to go used as I don't know enough about the machines to make a good decision. I also need to make the switch from one CNC to another as quickly as possible to eliminate down time. I hate surprises, the last thing I want is to have a 1,200 a month payment and then 6 months later I have to come up with another 1k-2k because I had to call a tech out and fix something that obviously isn't under warranty. I know most have a 1 year warranty but at least I can plan for that.
Again any input is appreciated!!
