    Vacuum Pump Overheating

    HI all,
We are currently running a Rover322 (1994). Our vacuum pump is overheating and can run for about 10 minutes before shutting off. We were told that the bearings are going and causing the overheat.
We were able to get a replacement pump and we are experiencing the same results.
Original pump Becker VT3.40 installed Becker VT3.100? (5HP)

    Exact same end result.

Does anyone have a resolution for me.

Notes: Air filter and relief valve removed, vacuum line connected directly, machine not in operation and vacuum pump running, 10 runtime max

    Thanks in advance

    leak?

Are you pulling normal amounts of vacuum? My Becker heats up when the vacuum dips below 20" and the flow goes up. I smell the overheated oil long before anything trips, though.

    Hi Jim
Is holding vacuum at about 24" (non operating) during operation drops to 22".
These were normal readings for us, this pump issue is only about 3-4weeks in.
We use the machine for mdf cabinet door manufacturing

We are new to the CNC operation, only about 7 months now.

    Thanks

    vacuum overheat

If the pump is exposed to the mdf dust, this stuff gets into everything and can cause a real problem! pull your seperator top and check to see if you have dust in the bottom of the tank! Also if the dust settles on the pump, it can cause it to run hot! If pump is shutting down on high temp, try replacing the high-temp cut out switch!
