    Cool Is it Parallel

    Hi

This may be sounding a weird question to the tech people out there.

Attached is a dial test indicator.

I want to know that is the swivelling movement of dial parrallel to the side body of dial...(Refer Attachment for clarification).

    Awaiting for some respone.
    Varma.

In a well made, quality instrument the motion of the "needle" is perpendicular to the mounting shoe(s) of the body. The motion is probably parallel to the sides as well, but I wouldn't guarantee that to be true.

On the cheap excuses for indicators on sale everywhere, there is no reason to believe anything is parallel, perpendicular or firmly attached to anything.

    Hi

I saw it closely with naked eye & it seems parrallel to the body.

Can anyone give me any refrence or link to document expressing the construction & design of Indicator. (Any patent link or any such sort).

    Thanks
    Ramu
