It really depends on your ethernet port on your PC. I believe that the UC300ETH manual also states that modern PC's may not need a crossover cable.
So it really depends on the LAN card.It also must be noted here that if the LAN network card or the router where the UC300ETH-5LPT
is connected to supports MDI/MDIX auto cross functionality then it does not matter if
the cable used is a Patch cable or a Crossover cable, because the MDI/MDIX function will
detect the cable type.
I use a standard straight through cable on both my desktop with an intel PCI card, and my Dell laptop. I don't have a crossover cable, so I've never tried one.
