anyone??
First off I'd like to say hello to everyone. Great website.
Second, I'm wondering if anyone can help me out real quick.
A friend of mine works at a machine shop where they have a few cnc machines
We're wanting to make some custom gussets for our fabs were doing, but I dont know what file formats the fanuc controller uses.
What I know is - fanuc controller with a procom program. Thats all I know thus far.
Now I'm under the impression that this ( should ) work under the same concept as a vinyl plotter.
I make a file, transfer it to the machine and poof. no?
I would like some schooling. thanks you guys.
anyone??
Fanuc uses standard G/M code programming, some models have the FAPT conversational programming, this allows simple operator input on the screen to program a part.
If using G code, the Procomm program is a RS232 modem program for downloading the file you either have stored or written off line in G code.

Then you just hit the 'Poof' button.

Poof button...lol Is there a poof to get from thumb drive to rs232?
I have just acquired a Fanuc -o control on a mill. it has an RS232 port that has been used in the past to program the machine. I do have a couple questions.
1. is it possible for me to thru some adapter other than a computer dedicated to the mill transfer from a thumb drive to the memory of the Fanuc.
2. If using a computer what are the setting requirements for the port in order to set it up for RS232
First off all find a software for down loading and uploading software
Easytalk is one avaible with a trial version ---just search for it on the web
Comincation is found on your setting screeen on the control---press offset then setting
Iso=1
input/output channel =0-3 for rs232 ports 4 is for flashcards if you have one on the machine
The input output channel refers to the first 100 parameters of the machine where you will find channel related parameters related to baude rate stopbits etc
in the older control this was done in the parameter numbers 550-560
There is a free RS232 from Cadem.
DNC – wireless and wired, Free DNC for 1 machine
If you search the Fanuc forum here, there is several posts for most Fanuc controllers showing RS232 pin out and protocol.
