hey thank you, I'm sorry but I seen mention earlier by Ger21 of traveling to X and passing through Y where you said you should have stopped by and I googled both places and they seemed to be in Westchester county which is why I asked, didn't realize you are in Michigan I was thinking to just PM you but I really mainly wanted to say in the thread how awesome your machine build is, thanks anyway

Thanks. Last One - 4'x6' Steel, Epoxy and ClearPath servo's

Hope you find a machine shop that can handle your request. It definitely made my build easier and better than I could have done by hand but it's possible to build a perfectly capable machine without using a 20ft horizontal boring machine.

great information and ideas I found here.
For plasma CNC ( stepper motor 1.8° with planetary gearbox 3:1 + micro stepping probably 10x) what you recommend me to use, rack and pinion module 1 or 1.5 ?! And what is the best (ideal) pinion diameter (number of teeth for the pinion ) ?!
What is the advantage of helical rack ?!
    Appreciate your help!

Assadi - Plasma is a different machine with different requirements. Anything I could tell you would be just a guess on my part. With that said if I were building one I would use regular straight rack and not helical, or even a good belt drive system. You want speed more than rigidity (to a point). And use good shielded cable on all your wires. There's lots of electrical noise on a plasma machine.

Helical is quieter, and can carry higher loads.

Number of teeth depends on the motor and drive, gear reduction, and how fast you want to go.

In the linked thread, post #110 shows the correct diagram. I pasted it below. Dont use the dashed line that shows a connection to X210. Use a 1-3k-ohm, 1/2watt resistor connected as shown at the VFD. According to Weerasak at CNCroom, the resistor pulls up the signal to positive value that can be read by the VFD. Its been working great for me. The Jumper wire on the VFD between terminals PLC and P24 is not used and has to be removed.
Thanks for your help, wiring ist done! Last One - 4'x6' Steel, Epoxy and ClearPath servo's
But now I have the next problem:
If I start the spindle, I cannot adjust the spindle speed! The VFD receives directly the max value and goes to 400Hz!
    Any idea?

I'd check your parameters in your VFD. Make sure your speed command source is set correctly. Also check your Step and direction spindle settings in UCCNC. I'm not at home at the moment so I can't refer to my settings but I'm certain I listed them here in my build log.

I had my VFD/spindle already running with the analog input (0-10V).
So I changed only the parameter A001 to 6 (pulse train).
    Is that probably not enough?

Unhappy Re: Last One - 4'x6' Steel, Epoxy and ClearPath servo's

Last test result from this evening - I took your settings from post #77 (except F002/3 and B090&095 because I don't have a brake resistor):

    F002 ACCELERATION TIME 10
F003 DECELERATION TIME 10 BRAKING RESISTOR INSTALLED
A002 RUN COMMAND SOURCE (USER PREFERENCE) 01 digital input
    A003 BASE FREQUENCY 400
    A004 MAX FREQUENCY 400
    A041 TORQUE BOOST 01 AUTOMATIC
    A044 V/F CHARACTERISTIC CURVE 03 SENSORLESS VECTOR
    A045 V/F GAIN 50
    A082 AVR VOLTAGE SELECT 02 220 V
    A097 ACCELERATION CURVE 00 LINEAR
    A098 DECELERATION CURVE 00 LINEAR
B012 LEVEL OF ELECTRONIC THERMAL PROTECTION 50
B021 OVERLOAD RESTRICTION OPERATION MODE 00 DISABLED
    B082 START FREQ 6
    B083 CARRIER FREQ 7.7
    B090 DYNAMIC BRAKING RATIO 10
B095 DYNAMIC BRAKING CONTROL 02 ENABLE ALWAYS
C028 AM TERMINAL SELECTION (USER PREFERENCE) 01 OUTPUT CURRENT
    C064 HEATSINK OVERHEAT WARNING 75

But the problem is still the same: if I switch on (spindle button), independently from the preselected SXXXX, I see in the VFD display always only 400 Hz - also the sliders from the 2017-screen are ineffective!

It seems that the VFD receives a wrong signal from the UCCNC/UB1 - or I'm wrong?

And this is my UCCNC setup acc. to the given infomatons (See attached photo)

....then I had to figure out and set the pulses per revolution and the acceleration. The Hitachi VFD's EA terminal for pulse stream input will accept a max signal frequency of 32 Khz. At 24000 spindle rpm the VFD driving frequency is 400 hz or, 400 pulses per rotation if you do the math.
    32000/400 = 80.
I didnt need max resolution for my spindle so I started with a setting of 32 in UCCNC. The acceleration I set at 50 steps/sec squared. I hit start button and the run command activated but the spindle didn't start. For a few seconds... then it started to spin and accelerate very slowly. And it only got to 200hz before it maxed out.
Anyway long story short, after a little experimentation, I set the steps per rotation up to 64 and the acceleration up to 10000. Then it worked great. I dont know why I had to set the acceleration so high. Anyway, its not on a machine yet but on the bench I'm pretty happy with how its working.
Currently I'm also setting up my VFD and the UCCNC SW. You can adjust the input frquency for the Hitachi WJ200 VFD with the parameter P055 (=> 32 kHz), but where do can adjust the output frequency from the UC300ETH board (from where do you know that number)?

I have still an off-set between the selected rpm and the real rpm at the spindle: S24000 => 19000 1/min ???

DIAY - The MB2 itself just relays the output frequency UCCNC sends it. The output frequency is set by the "Steps per Revolution" setting in UCCNC on the Spindle set up tab. I think the problem is a setting. Try cutting your steps per revolution in half (32) and see if then it runs at a slower speed. If it does, then its likely just a setting that needs adjusting. If there is no change, then I would check your settings and make sure that your VFD is set to accept speed control from the EA pin. I'll double check my settings but it will be later today before I can. Also, instead of using the slider to adjust spindle RPM, try directly entering a value in the MDI field or the RPM percentage field underneath the slider.

If you are controlling the spindle with step/direction, wouldn't that be the steps/rev value?

Not sure why you just don't use the UB1's 0-10V, which is very simple to setup.

    Hi jumoer10

I was reading your most interesting Build Posts, as I said before it is awsume.

I was wondering if is it possible for you to send me the drawing or a clear pictures of your Motor and gear box mount Plates or so called motor gear box flanges? I am attaching one of your pictures

Please send if you can the drawing of both plates the steel and aluminum plates

    regards

Johnansaro - The dxf drawings I posted in this thread: http://www.cnczone.com/forums/usa-rf...8-autocad.html
    The units are in millimeters.
