    Question help me decide!!

I'm planning to build my first 4 axis cnc machine (8' by 5') for my woodworking shop. I visited Automation Technology Inc. | Stepper Motors, Servo Motors, CNC Stepper Motors, Stepper Drivers, CNC Kits, Stepper Kits Automation Technology Inc and there are NEMA 23 and NEMA 34 4 axis CNC kits. So my question is which one is better to use on a 8' by 5' cnc machine? and I'd appreciate it if you have suggestions about anything i should do, see or read before building my first cnc. Thanks!!!

Because this is a commonly asked question, I suggest you spend an hour or two reading everyone else's build logs! There you will find the answers relevant to the weight & strength of the materials you choose to build your router with!

I'd suggest spending a month or two.

Just reading my big machine's build log takes fast readers much longer than a month. It will show you everything I did wrong, and all the do-overs it required to improve on it. I have three different CNC machine build logs now, and I'm still not finished. ger21 is right. Read, read, read.

Whether you build a machine with Nema 23 or Nema 34 steppers depends on how heavy duty you want the machine to be and which materials you want to cut. How fast and how deep you want to cut in one pass is a very complex subject.
