that bottom one is a gift for my nephew. he's 14 and has been playing for about 9 years. he's pretty good (who am I kidding, he's amazing). he told me he wanted an amp with tubes that showed. I started building it about 9 weeks ago and he hasn't seen it or any of the progress pictures. I think he's gonna like it.
Oww! Man! A gift like that could spoil the kid for life.
I look forward to hearing his art.
I used to play drums and bass. I sliced my hand on a job with some sheet metal. It severed a nerve and I lost feeling in my left hand. For awhile that is. It is mostly back now, but I still don't play worth a hoot.
Pump him up every chance you get. The World is lacking in real musicians.

A couple videos of the boy and his new amp...
Working on my next piece of stereo equipment: a line pre-amp with a built in DAC. here's the panels I made on my machine. this component will match my mini-amp.
Very nice looking panel Dave. Keep it up.

Now with sides...
The preamp is alive. Time to write some code for it.
I'll cut a top for it this weekend and then it's done. Next up is a matching cd player.
here's the latest component for the homemade stack of stereo components: a cd/mp3 player. still needs about 3 hours of work to complete the case and about $2 worth of parts from mouser.
Looking good.

CD player is alive. just need to put a top on it and I'm on to the media player component.
been a while since I posted. I've been working on pinewood derby cars for my boy. At his age, the parents do all the work with the power tools and the kids help by sanding and painting. I cut the profiles and wheel wells with the CNC and added curves with a belt sander and foredom rotary tool with the reciprocating chisel handpiece.
Wheels on the mustang.
Sweet.
Wish I had a CNC router when I did pinewood derby.
That is a keeper for sure. Good luck with it. It looks like a winner just sitting there.

some more photos of the cars and bus. Still need to add some lettering to the bus and now my daughter wants me to make a BMW Z4 for her so there's going to be one more car....
the daughter decided on a Camaro instead of a Z4. Still needs headlights....
