oops....sorry..... you're right there I kinda overlooked that...all I saw was the March 7th date and never looked at what year jeez don't I feel like an idiot now
I'm just looking for a hole to hide in at the moment.........
That is actually not the new machine you see on that video.
That was my last build, where I did a lot of experimental work on. I tested alot of different drive systems on it, but nothing works as good as rack and pinion or ballscrews...
You can see it's not the new machine, as the mount for the spindle is different on the machine in the video, than in the pictures in this thread.

em....to change the subject kinda rapidly.....any updates...?
Eoin
Well, the word is that you can't see the forrest for the trees...
No updates, I'm actually in a bit of a jam financially, so I'm really thinking of selling my beautiful beast. So unless I can find a solution to that, then it needs to be sold.
I hope I will be able to keep it, but as things look right now, then it's not looking good.
Aw jeez I'm awfully sorry to hear that....I know that in general everybody's spending power has been reduced hugely but is there any chance whatsoever of beautiful decorative signs you could produce for your local business that could promote your capabilities ??
Eoin
I am thinking of going ahead and try and make some promotional signs, but for that I need either some high quality wood, or alot of MDF. I still need to make my dustfoot, and figure out how to mount it to the machine... I was thinking of making a pressure foot that allows the spindle to move up and down without moving the foot up and down, but I haven't decided yet.
Regarding the promotional signs (and here's only a suggestion but,) within your community you have the local businesses and the local government agencies right…and for you to make your own promotional designs to promote yourself you would have to fund 100% for the costs ok… so how about maybe approaching the local business and government agencies and offering a special price (i.e. just covering overheads like material, electricity, tooling etc..) and producing their company’s logo’s and with the local governments you could design you own local emblem’s for the heritage buildings, local government offices,..etc… and this way you promote your company and if you don’t have a company you promote your own capabilities (sole trader)…….and there’s one thing I have noticed within this world recession is that businesses and local governments on our national News network (Ireland’s RTE) that they seem to always promote “free” new innovative starter company’s with new ideas….and not only will you get free advertising but when you pitch to the local business that if they promote you they are also promoting themselves as they will obliviously state who they are too…!
and regarding the automatic foot....look save your money for the moment and you could always stand with the vacum for the moment you had in one of your "Latest " videos and in time God willing you'll have the finances to fund the automatic vacum foot....
But again this is only a suggestion…..but look who knows…

This design looks extremely familiar....
Did you get the specs for your R&P from Ron?
The design is indeed thought up from looking at a few pictures from Ron, and also from a bunch of other pictures on the web.
The bed itself is made to ressemble Ron's beautiful machine, so yes, it's made in exactly the same way. I would love to have taken credit for that design, but ron made such a nice machine, that i could not help myself in copying a bit from him. All the dimensions of the machine and steel types are of my own choosing though.
IN-WondeR I am impressed with your machine and the build!!! I too have seen Ron's machine but I have not seen a build for it just an archived thread on the MechMate forum. Do you or anyone here on the CNCZone forum now how to contact Ron? Is he a member of the CNCZone?
Nice build. What stepper motors did you used?
I used some motors I bought from zap automation. I think it was 4.5Nm motors. They worked quite well.
Hi Kim....
Ever received news from our friend Ron ??
Wondering how he's doing and....how is machine doing !?
Later
Hi Robert.
No i haven't had any contact to Ron in a long time. So I don't know what he is up to at this moment.
Like wise.....pita !!
I'm not even sure if his build is here anymore...
Nice build " in wonder", few questions, what was the x,y,z stepper motor size in this build, also what was the height of the gantry from the linear rails to top of gantry beam.
Lastly what was the gear ratio for x and y, was it enough or would go 20:1 for x,y for this size of machine
