Default Design of a new hot wire cutter

    Hi

I am in the process of designing a hot wire cutter that will have to cut a 2.5 metre width and up to 7 metre long caravan from polystyrene.

The length is no problem but the width is as it will have the shape of a crescent moon.

What I would like to know is:- is it possible to attach a wire at right angles to the cutting wire (most likely by means of soldering it)? Has any one done this? I am thinking of having the lower cutting wire suspended in several different places along its length with wires at right-angles holding it taught, A little like the cables on a suspension bridge.

Do you think it might work?

    thanks
