I've got a small machine that I built loosely based on the Shapeoko and I'm using a Bosch Colt Trim Router as my spindle. Before they stopped selling them I was able to pick up some collets from PreciseBits but I only have 1/8" and 1/4" sizes.

I've been doing work with wood and plastic and I plan to start using aluminum for some projects. I've tried to use small bits and bore out some holes but usually the small bits have short flute lengths so that limits the depth of cut I can make. It seems like it would be better as well as faster if I was able to just load up a 2.5mm bit and drill the holes but I've only got the 1/8" and 1/4" collets.

So how are other people doing something like this? Do I need to replace my Bosch Colt with a spindle so I can get different collet sizes?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
George
