Default Tapping an m6x1 while holding onto a m6x1 thread in the sub without slipping?

I was wondering if its possible to grip onto an m6x1 (16mm long) thread in the subspindle, then face tap an m6x1 hole? Or is this going to slip? Material is 303ss, the machine is a citizen L16. Subspindle chuck is mechanical, I know I could do it in a turning center and just up the chucking pressure until the threads start to deform a little

    thanks

If it doesn'e work you could try thread milling it.
