Default Milling a 3D Surface - odd lines in corners

Not sure how to explain this...I am milling a model using Vetric/Mach3. Using the default settings and a 1/4" ball nose bit. The model is about 4.25 square and basically a ripply surface about 1/8 max depth. The material is walnut. My machine is a standard 24x48 with a Bosch 1617 router. I believe the stepover was set real small - 0.005" or so? Anyway, I noticed in the corners, there are diagonal lines from each corner to the center. So, something is happening when it turns the corner. Default is offset, but I wondered about using rastering instead? The test piece I did was in MDF with a stepover of around 0.010 and I didn't see this effect, but it is MDF and may be there and I can't see it (fuzzy surface). Any ideas?

Oh, the model is one I did in Sketchup and imported. I did the original profile in IntelliCAD, imported that into Sketchup, revolved it around an axis, then imported that into VCarve. Yeah, lots of work, but it looks pretty cool. In spite of the "lines," I really like the effect.

I ended up doing a fair amount of sanding and the lines are still there in places, but not real bad. Not sure my camera would show it. I threw a coat of finish on it this afternoon. I may try and get a pic of it tomorrow. This is an 'art' piece. It was a cutoff with neat knot in it that has been sitting in my shop for years.

    Thanks for the help,

    Tony

You have to post a picture...preferably before you sanded and finished it.
