Distance from 1/4 cold rolled steel to top of Gear Rack

I'm redoing the X axis for my CNC and have Cncrouterparts nema23 R&P drive mounts. Since I used 3" square steel tubing instead of extrusion for my 8' X and I don't have any extrusion I can't measure what I need physically.

I would like to know is the best distance from the bottom of the 1/4 cold rolled steel plates the guides ride on to the top of the gear rack. That way I can build spacers to make sure that I do mount it correctly when I get that far in the conversion.

any help would be appreciated.
