Angry morbidelli/ author 667 "PLC30 Cycle Tool Change"

first off if this is in the wrong sub-forum sorry, also sorry for run ons and etc.

im having problems trying to get our Machine to run, we had someone hit the e-stop mid tool change and now its giving us an error PLC30 Cycle Tool Change. Called SCM Group and all the told me was that i had to pay $500 for them to log in via team viewer, and that i had a bad relay. i dont know how to fix this problem and im about to either take a hammer to the machine or just burn it down.

relays are fine. whats happens is when i load a program the tool changer will spin to the correct tool and then it just sits there, if we load the tool in by hand the spindle will drop down to the cutting pos but it will not spin, just says in blue PLC30 Cycle Tool Changer

You need to manually get the correct tool loaded, using the F12 option from the MDI screen I think? (Don't have the machine in front of me)
Unfortunately, I can't tell you exactly how you need to go about it.

Will it unload the tool after you've manually loaded it? Or does it not know which tool is loaded?
I've seen similar issues I was able to get out of.

But you want to avoid stopping the machine during a tool change as it can be a huge pita.

    Thanks for the reply

if i manually load in any of the tools it knows it has said tool number but it still throws the "PLC30 Cycle Tool Changer" but the spindle comes down to the cutting position and then wont do anything else.

it wont pull the tool after we put it in. it will spin to the correct pocket but wont move past it

    Does F10 clear the error?
I know that sometimes the machine needs to have the error cleared before it will work correctly?
Do you have a manual? If so, what does that error say?

Can you run the toolchanger from MDI? I've often needed to do that after it's lost track of it's tooling.

We have a 636, which appears to be basically the same machine.

hitting F10 will clear the error but comes back up as soon as you start it back up again.

the only manual we have it a wiring diagram and im not to keen on reading it.

i can somewhat run the tool changer from the MDI but im not able to get it to drop all the way down unless we use the "air valves" on the side of the machine.

Also on a side note do yall have problems with your machine setting fires so whatever yall are cutting?

In my manual, it just says that PLC30 means it's in the middle of a tool change.

On ours, if I use the MDI to unload the tool, it will basically reset everything and be back to normal.

If you're starting fires, you either have tools spinning backwards, or you rpm and feedrates are way off. Or, you have collets or toolholders rubbing on the workpiece.

Did you buy the machine used? We bought ours new, and have never paid anything for support from SCM.

we did buy ours used, but for a "deal"

ive tried the mdi to unload the tool but still gives me the "PLC30"

on the fires im thinking we have the feedrate off, that or we are just dulling our bits to fast.
