Default Want to build new machine

    Hello Gentleman,
I'd like to build a new machine, What I need is to be able to put together a controller/driver. Prefer Parralell port configuration. Serial will do if considered better.
    I have $400.00 to $500.00 to spend.

    Need
#1. Good power supply, or easy to follow design for same.
#2. Good to better control system.

    I have 90 oz/in motor 6vdc, 1.2 amp. steppers 200 steps per.

    Can this be done?
I'd like to cut as fast as humanly possible on a home built system. My current controller comes from the below listed link. I'm running a PII laptop as main system control.

    TIA

    Hello,

I'm not sure I understand your question completely...

Are you wanting to go as fast as possible USING the current components you have, with 4-500 more bucks to spend?

Or is the 4-500 for the entire machine?

Or are you asking what is the best control I can put together with 4-500 bucks? (and wil use what I have already IF it makes sense)

Or what is the best control for these motors if I have 4-500 bucks to spend?

Next, to really give you a good answer, I need to know more about what size/type machine you have in mind? What do you think you will be making with it?

Finally, since you emphasize speed; how much resolution are you willing to give up in exchange for speed?
Because a machie with 100 steps per inch will be able to "humanly possible" go much faster than one using 2000 steps per inch...

Thank you in advance for your answers,

    Ballendo

Default Little more clear on concept

Sorry, I was a little vague.

I want to use new controls/drivers, and PSU

The machine I'd like to make should have a table size of min"
    24" x 32". Z height should be 6" to 8" (this I will build).

The motors I have seem to work fine. There nema 23 unipolar 6vdc,1.2a. I have four other 12vdc units.
I'm running TurboCNC, which seems fine right now. I'm not much of an electronics man, but am learning. Soldering skills are min at best.
    Comprehension is very good.

Basically in a nut shell, From an experienced persons point of view, I would like to know what you would purchase if you could get everything from one spot.

The machanics I can handle from this end.

    TIA
    Neil
