Hello,
Has anyone overcome the problem with the Cincinnati Milicron arrow 500 with control techniques information starvation while machining surfaces with several point to point moves to generate an advanced machined surface?
Maybe its something I'm doing wrong. I have the program loaded into the memory not running from the PC"s memory and still the machine will not feed more then 30 to 50 ipm.
Is there something I can buy or change to improve this feed-rate?
Thank you for your help in advance.

Appreciate the advice Toby.
The max feed rate is 200ipm. I know that the machine can feed much faster then it is moving it is starving for information it can't get the lines in quick enough.
Even the Fadal's move much faster then the Arrow is anyone experiencing the same issue?
Thanks Toby

According to the manuals that came with my CT equipped Arrow 500 the maximum feedrate is the same as the rapid speed on x y (787 IPM) and a little slower at 655 IPM on z. The control does not have a lot of precessing power, which is probably your limiting factor. HSM mode is enabled by G105 and disabled by G106, although I can't comment on its effect on contouring since I've never tried it.

Hi Joe,
I spoke with a cincinnati tech this morning. Man was he GOOD! He knew these machines in and out.
He told me that the reason the Control Techniques contoler slows during advanced surface machining is due to the time delay the servo motor require between positions not lack of information in the buffer ready to be executed.
The Fix is a new control 16K. Its not in my budget having two machines that I payed 13k to purchase but at lease I know the proplem and have not had a chance to try the G105 but will and let you know how it reacts.
Thanks for the recommendation.

Yes the bottleneck on these machines is the CT control. I have only done simple contours on it so far so it has not been much of a limiting factor, and since I only paid $4800 for the machine I can't complain. Seems like most of the control upgrades I read about cost in the neighborhood of $15k. That's an expensive neighborhood IMHO. Let me know if enabling HSM has any effect.
