I just wanted to post to everyone that mitt's post on using win XP and reformtting to the hdd to FAT and then re-copying the files worked for me. Thank you Thank You!!

here is the solution:
when win xp, or similar, detects an older version of ntfs file system, it automaticaly updates it during boot. that updated partition is not readable anymore for win NT, that acrimatic uses. you get blue screen during boot.
you have to format partition under winnt with old version of ntfs, or format it to fat16 system under control panel->admin tools->computer managment->disk managment under winxp. then just copy files, wich you backed up earlier with windows explorer back to new hard drive.
