Talking Arrow 1250C vickers drive problem unfixable

Help I bought this mill back in november of last year with some unknown problems. I have had allot of sucsess fixing machines and the price was right so I rolled the dice and purchased the machine. I found out the vickers as10300 axis drives x and y had problems (MAG tech support walked me through that evaluation) I sent them to Industrial Electronics Repair in NC and they had them back to me in 10 days. I installed the drives in the mill and when I powered it up it blew my 24 volt DC power supply. I got a new PS and before I powered it up I checked the + 24 volt pin to ground and it was a dead short I chased the short down to the X axis drive I just had repaired. I sent them back to the same place under warrenty and 3 months later they said they would refund my money and they cannot fix the problem. What can I do now? Can I buy a new drive? where? who can fix this problem I need a Vickers Ninja!

Are you refering to the A2100 control ? If so remove it and send to Siemens.
Last account I had was $7K to replace every board and the hard drive with a warranty.

Mike Kilroy Corp. repairs a lot of these drives, so isn't a bad choice, but if someone has already told you the drive is unrepairable, your best bet is probably Siemens (who bought the control division from Vickers, which had purchased it from Cincinnati). They will give you a flat rate repair fee for your drive regardless of what is wrong with it (unless it truly is unrepairable).

I have one of these Vickers drives (unused) at the shop left over from a machine I sold, but it was for a 4th axis, so I think it is a smaller unit than yours. I'll check when I get in on Monday, and let you know if it is the correct drive for your machine.

just got back from a few day trip and replied to ur PM. Yes, we keep these on the shelf and yes we repair them. There are three different models 300,301,&302 - if you get a replacement make sure you get one that will work for you - they are not all swappable. Most places cannot repair heavy damage in the multilayer control card; we do or simply replace it with a brand new one.
