I get a servo lag alarm now, I have tries tuning the drives but not sure if I am doing it in the correct sequence. when I power the machine it goes directly into alarm Servo lag / Error compensation exceeded.

Hmm. Sorry. If you are getting that on power up I'm not sure what is up.

What is the exact message? you will get an excess error on all CNC controls if the axis exceeds its programmed limits. EG if you command the axis to move and it does'nt you will get excess error, if the axis moves and you have not commanded it to move you will get excess error.
I know the CT control has velocity feed forward which means the axis will run with zero lag.
More investigation is required, I am pleased to help.
Just a thought.....Have you checked the brake on the motor?
