Hello, I'm currently considering the purchase of a `98 Hawk 150Tc. I have seen pictures but plan on making an appointment to view it in person and under power within the next couple weeks. I currently have 2 lathes, a Mori SL-1 (yasnac 2000g control) and an Okuma LB-15 (OSP5000L control). The Hawk would be a replacement for the SL-1. Are these lathes/control's reliable? How is the parts and service support? Standard G-codes? I need something that would lend itself better to a job shop application than the old SL-1. Is there anything in particular to this machine and control(A2100) that I should keep an eye out for when I go look it over? Thanks! |

| I worked for the dealer that sold moris and cinci's and before that okumas. The cinci's were super lite duty, had 3 times more issues that both the okuma and moris. The 80s cinci's were animals, not that thing. 3 point casting with no leveling pads, hard drives failing all the time, duplomatic turrets that were almost impossible to fix in the field. The linear ways were tiny, ballscrews were tiny, and it goes on. I would buy a Kia or haas lathe way before one of those things, IMO. |
