    Arrow 1000 tool change problem!

    Hi All.

Our company have an old Cincinnati arrow 1000, with milacron 2100 control system.
We bought the machine second handed, and have had many problems with it!
Now a new problem has come up. The machine Can not make a tool change.
The Z axis is going too tool change pos, and the tool drum is turning to the required tool, but the spindle is aligning to the wrong position, and then the machine just stops. There is no more movement, and no alarm appears!
We got the problem and couldn't fix it, but then when I turned on the machine the next day the problem was gone! Now the problem is back, and it dos not seem to go away by it selves again.

We have checked all relays, switched the disc to a system backup disc and tryed to switch the spindle drive unit with one from a simmilar machine, but nothing has worked!

Anyone who has any idea of what the problem Can be? Any help is appriciated!

The machine is produced in 1997. About the software version, I'm not quite sure. Where can I see this information?

Is it possible that the temperature can course this problem? The temperature here is around the freezing point, 0°C. Actually the tool change has worked fine, for the last couple of days.

Temperature can be a problem but not in this case i think
Touch more service and the software version will be there
If it is 3.25 then we can move forward to fix otherwise we will have to look at other options

1997 machine. possibly loosing P1 position randomly now after 14 years......

The Batt back ram chip used to store the program and variables in the vfs5 had a planned life of 7 years. Sounds like your BRAM is in need of replacement. We do it here in the US, Millardfiz can do it in UK, not sure who in your area. If you simply replace the chip the drive is dead - stuff needs to be copied over to new one (password protected too)
