threading help

It looks like the problem may be with the sync of z axis and spindle. I can't figure out the correct amount of lead in.
I punched in the exact example from the book but still gave me alarms.
Our avenger is down at the moment due to live tooling motor failure so I can't give you the alarms but I will reply again as soon as we get it back up. Maybe you will have time to help me then.
The thread is 2"-4.5 unc over 8" lenth. What would your program look like if were cutting this?
This is what mastercam post for me in canned tread cycle.

N1340M9

Thanks for any help you can provide....

Mitchell,

Unless i'm missing something, there appears to be all sorts of problems.

":4G0G62G70G97S200M3T2M26X10.Z10."
G62 is for diameter programming
M3 Should be M4 for a right hand thread

"N1300G0X2.2Z14.0554M9"
M9 is coolant off, is that what you want?

"N1310(THD,H0D.0111A30X.889Z14.)"
X value appears to be radius programming but the G62 sets to diameter programming
R value is a retract point which is missing

"N1320G32X1.778Z6.I.22222"
G32 is threads per inch which requires a K valve
I should be a K and instead of the lead (.22222) it should be 4.5

"N1330(ENC)N1330"
N1330(ENC)N1330 should be N1330(ENC) there should not be anything after (ENC)

N1340M9
N1350G0X10.Z10.

Is your part origin for Z set at the top of the part (farthest from the chuck)
or at the bottom (closest to the chuck)?
From what I see your program should be something like this :

:4G0G62G70G97S200M4T2M26X10.Z10.
N1300G0X2.2Z14.0554M8
N1310(THD,H0D.0111A30X1.778Z14.R1.0125)
N1320G32X1.778Z6.K4.5
N1330(ENC)
N1340M9
N1350G0X10.Z10.

My program for this thread would be
:G00 G63 G98 G70 (prep codes)
(this sets to radius programming, inch)
N1300 G92 S4000
(sets max. spindle speed)
N1310 G97 S200 T2 M26 M41 M04
(sets spindle speed, indexes to tool 2, spindle direction counter clockwise)
N1320 G95 F.2222
(sets feedrate to thread lead)
N1330 G00 Z.4349
N1340 X.9925
(rapid to start position)
N1350 (THD, D.0400 A28 C1 X.8241 Z.0127 R1.0125)
N1360 G33 X.8241 Z-8.000 K.2222
N1370 (ENC)
I set my Z part origin at the farthest point from the spindle.

Hope this helps.
Tim

Tim...

Thanks for taking the time to work on this problem.
I will try your suggestions as soon as our machine is back up and let you know what happens.
