alarm code 39-41

We have been getting an Alarm code 39-41 on our Arrow 1000 CNC mill. It is happening when the spindle is starting up. It's becoming more frequent and is happening once or twice a day.
I am listing the alarm code Cause and Remedy that shows up on our screen. Anybody have any idea what is going wrong?
thanks

alarm 39-41
Cause: the drive ready signal has been lost.
Input CR_AXES RDY(100:00/32 is off)
Remedy: KollMorgen BDS4 drives. Check the display on drives. the control volts, enable and drive ready L.E.D.'s should be on.
Check the other indicators for the nature of the alarm. Consult the axes control documentation for details.

we checked all 3 drive results below
X and Y Drive were the same
Control Volt = on
Enable = off
Drive Ready = off
Under Volts = on

Z drive
Control Volt = off
Enable = off
Drive Ready = off
Under Volts = on

Buy me a Beer?

let me know if u still have the problem; we can help you diagnose the problem with the Kollmogen BDS4 drive and let you know if it needs repair of is just a loose wire or something.

Alarm 39-41 "Drive Ready" here in San Marcos, TX

Mike,

Please contact me. We currently have the same problem with our Arrow 1000 VMC. It also happens after pickup up a tool while bringing up the spindle RPM and traversing to the part. We have had minor success in the past by cleaning contacts etc..... We also spoke with Mark Nichols with Mag, and he suggested that it could be the DC power bus between the drives and/or the M20 contactor. We measured voltages here in the neighborhood of 300VDC with only small drops in operations, none near the 185VDC that would trigger a shutdown. We have also been able to duplicate the failure by rapidly in "hand-wheel" operation, cycling the "y" axis.

When you check those contactors (spindle is M11, Kollmogen supply is M20) check them by measuring across the contacts. When you measure from Line 1 to Load1 you should see less than a volt or two with the contactor energized since you are measuring across a closed contact. If you see any significant voltage across any of the three terminals you have a burnt or intermittent contact. Last time I saw that code the spindle contactor was burnt in our 500 but phase to phase voltage measurements looked OK. Also feel free to slap it around while you measure.

Bob, good ideas how to check!

This brings to mind a $ 39 IR temp gun from harbor freight... they are good for looking at contacts to see if they are hotter than the surrounding ambient - shows they are not making good contact!

Of course the UV error too is almost instantaneous; you may miss it with a digital meter if it comes and goes only under heavy load (accel) or cut....

Danny, our guys called you yesterday as requested; hope they helped a tad? They thought you want someone LOCAL to come help diagnose/fix the issue; if so, I'd suggest you POST that - you may get replies....
