Acramatic Melodramatics

Hi,

Have noticed a few posts on this site that refer to tool setting and which address codes you need (or don't need) to call up tool length offsets. If you dig around in here you may find the relevant posts.

Have only used (Vickers) Acramatic once and found it a little confusing at first with the many multilevel tool/fixture offset tables. As I recall there is a 'Tool Manager/Database' in which you input tool DIAMETER, as WELL AS a H & D offset table, so your code will be dependant on how you use the machine. You could use one or the other or a combination of both.

There is a unique notation for defining loops and there are also plenty of ridiculous cycles in there to keep you busy.

A2100

you're going to like it!!!!
i'm guessing it's a A2100 on a VMC
there is a pile of VERY helpful guys here in the zone that know about the A2100 and Cincinnati machines

i wasn't involved in CNC until 2 years ago and this is what I learned on.
the guy that had the arrow before me, gave me a 4 hour crash coarse (forgive the word "crash") on programing, tool change, the RAP functions, and various programing short cuts. It's a very easy program to learn.

do you have the programing manual? if you do... read, read, read!!

most everything else I've learned is from this site including trouble shooting and repair

has this machine been in your shop long?
if it's new to your shop, one of the first things you're going to want to do is backup the hard drive. take a look at this link... it will help
http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showth...hlight=cloning
i backed up mine just before Christmas - it's still fresh in my mind if you have questions

good luck and enjoy

would like to see a simple mill and drill, maybe bolt hole pattern program.
G54-G59? height and dia. offset use, where to find it.
As things stand at the moment, no one on the shop floor has a strong head for programming. They hire me in and throw a Aramantic Cincinnati at me. Im a Fanuc man of ten years plus and im feeling stumped on this controller. They are just chopping bits and pieces together to make things work for now looking to me for help. All i need is to know where to find things and a couple sample progams. Thier progams are very screwie and without thought. no progamming manuals in tacked.
any help or direction would be greatfull.

Hello send me an e-mail to mallard@fizz58.freeserve.co.uk and i'll send you a programming manual (and an operating manual if i have one) and i will try to get you started. i was an application engineer for 10 years at the Cincinnati plant in Birmingham UK - were your machine was built - and teaching the control was one of the duties expected. i didn't teach much because i'm a little impatient but lets see if i've calmed down a bit now i'm older.

How's this for reference, this program has milling, drilling, tapping, threadmilling, all on multiple fixtures.

Hope it helps, there isn't a lot of difference, just a few very key things that need to be just right. What CAM system, if any, are you using? I may be able to help with a post file specifically for the A2100 control.

Best regards,
John

IIRC, helical was a pain to sort out, but once you understood it, it was still a pain. And radii also don't take R, but use P in the program:
