Cincinnati Dart 500 - Z Axis Overload issues
We have a Cincinnati Dart 500 with Fanuc 21 i MB , We had some minor mechanical issues and some minor wear on the Ball-Screws and LMG's . We took apart the machine serviced the Ball Screws and LMGs and Re-Assembled the machine. There was no problem with the machine except some back lash inaccuracies.
After putting everything back together, We started getting overload issues on the Z-axis. We rechecked the Ball Screws, LMG , Motor, Drive atleast twice , Tried the assembly with another motor, also tried Motors without brakes , But the situation stays the same. The Z-Axis motor heats up progressively even during idle. Z-Axis load touches 130% going up and about 60% going down.
We have double checked / triple checked everything. Individually Everything is fine, But the assembly just wont work. I am really going nuts.
Any Help would be highly appreciated.
PS: The machines is practically unused and the only change we made is we changed from grease lubrication to oil lubrication.

Re: Cincinnati Dart 500 - Z Axis Overload issues
It sounds like the LMG's are not parallel or the ball screw is not aligned. I would loosen up the ball nut bolts and let it float and check the current draw up and down. The ball nut should be tightened as close to the top bearing (thrust) as possible, did you over tighten the thrust bearings? Did you indicate any thing in?? If that does not help I would loosen up the LMG bearing blocks and let them float. If that does not help I would go back to grease lube. Let us know what you find.
