Default Help 15901 SPDL ORN FAIL-Cincinnati Sabre 750

I have a Cincinnati Sabre 750 and it is giving us intermittant 15901 SPDL ORN FAIL. It only does it on certian tools (ones used to Rough out metal). It has done it on different programs that we have used for years, on stainless steel & aluminum. After it roughs out the metal it puts the tool back then will alarm sometimes, most times and all the time. The operators have shut the machine off for 5 or so min and it will be fine. What could it be? Spindle getting too warm ? have touched and it or the tool dosent feel warm.

Thanks for any and all help! Dan

Dan,it would be useful if you add a LOCATION to your profile so folks can see where you are located.

This error is typical when our battery backed ram dies; it had a design life of about 6 years; your machine is probably close to 20 yrs old.

To replace the spindle VFS5 BRAM requires reprogramming proprietary info into it; not something you can do at home.

    Dan,
You need to check if you are getting the proper knock out of the tool. When the tool is un-clamped it should hit the back of the tool and push it out about 0.030" when you are holding the tool. If the drive key is out of position when the tool drum moves to pick up the tool it will push the drive key out of position and cause the error. You do need to add your location as Mike K said !!!

    Dan,

You also need to add the control model and the model of the axis and spindle drives to get correct answers.
