i've been reading their website and they are advertising a really advanced stl system which would save me tons of time and energy if it's as good as they're billing it to be. we use mcam right now and it's stl handling is very mediocre. especially since we are using very small, super detailed models with files sizes around 80megs.
if any one has any experience with stl files and cimatron i would love to know about it.
ok, so i guess i'm the only one here trying this so i guess i should post my results so far. we got a temp license and a lot of tech support because i have no training in this software.
so far so good it imported the stl in a usable format in a very reasonable amount of time. i've applied a really rough 5-axis tool path. it took about 10 minutes to crunch on our fairly beefy dell precision workstation.
still waiting on a post that will let me actually inspect the code, but i can say that i've been using mcam for years now and this is farther than i got in a week of trying with that. it would tie up all the system resources run for about an hour then crash after it chewed up the last bit of memory.
