    Hi Vik,
I think we both assumed the machine would do these things automatically, but in fairness it wasn't mentioned and I did not ask. The supplied controller does the job in a limited way.
To me the speed control is the most annoying, to manually change between spindles is reasonably quick after practise, changing speed each time, if required is not.
It seems they have taken spindle speed out of the DSP controller ( because it can not handle 2 spindles ) and made the invertor panel solely control speed, which stops you controlling speed via. g-code. Just a guess.
As for your last question you know more about g- codes than me, can't help there, but yes thats what we need.

Also, with those codes I got it to run, up/down, on/off one after the other. Fantastic, so we need offset co-ordinates, tool height and spindle speed.
    Should be easy.

    Geoff

You are quite right Geoff, it was an assumption that was made.

However the fact the single spindle machine has a DSP501 controller but the twin spindle ones have the upgraded DSP506 controller would lead you to the conclusion that it was designed to control 2 spindles.

I guess with some help from Taney we'll figure it out and post the results for everyones benefit.

What we really need is a complete list of commands that the controller will understand. Can you get one from the maker of the DSP?

    For Example...
1/ There is an offset command that is understood by many machines - G52 which is a local offset.

2/ The DSP Manual states that it can controll the spindle speed. you sent us some codes for that S12000 and S24000

3/ If we do 2 drawings as you suggested how do we set up 2 different tool depths? one for each spindle

4/ With the DSP we can select 1x,1y,1z. we can also select 2x,2y,2z and 3x,3y,3z and so on. Is there a GCode that the DSP will recognise and switch between these? This is G54 and G55 on other machines
    Hi Vik,

Yes, some controller offset is set by a standard G52 but this controller can only realized from CAM software.

Also this controller can not control spindler speed by S12000 or S24000, the sample code I sent to you before is for a SYNTEC controller not DSP0505

When you make different drawings I think you need to edit each tool separatedly, there you can set the cutting deepness.

The 1x, 1y, 1z, 2x, 2y, 2z... are for setting different original point not for different coordinate, so it has some difference on some other controller G54, G55 etc...

I have sent an translated explanation file to you and Geoff supplied by Richnc for 0505 system, pls check

Hi all, how are these machines performing for everyone? Mine is currently on the ship after some delays and will most likely need a little advice getting things up and running. Anyone else got one on the way?

    Hi Larry,
Everything is good here, router is chugging away, picking up new work.
The machine is great, my biggest problem is the idiot operating it!!

    Hi Geoff

Good to hear that. I will have the same issues Im sure!

Did you manage to sell the 6100 machine? I was very tempted to buy it but just wasnt big enough work area for my project. Looks like a great machine.

    Hi Larry,
Yes both machines went, one to Victoria, one to Lithgow NSW.
Haven't heard anything back, after they both told me they would probably ring me for help, I would say that is a good sign.
I think you will be the same!
Feel free to contact me should you need help.
    Geoff

Haven't posted in a while, been real busy getting the shop ready for the machine, working my day job, and most recently breaking my foot on the dirt bike Finally got the dust collector all piped in, but now can't load an MDF spoilboard with the bum leg, so it's all Vectric stuff for now!

Here's how the delivery went down:

I originally purchased the K45MT/1325 and paid Quick to handle all the shipping. I made it very clear to Taney that I did not have a Fork-lift to handle unloading the machine and that I wanted the machine unloaded for me. I wanted delivery to include the fork lift service and Taney assured me on multiple occasions that this was all taken care of.

Once the machine was about half way across the water he notified me that it might cost $100 extra for the fork lift? Uh-oh, I know where this is headed. I then received an e-mail from the broker that I would need to arrange my own fork-lift at my expense. Living 1 hr drive from the nearest fork-lift rental you do the math. It would have cost me about $1000 to get a fork lift. My only other option was a local crane service, but at $200/hr even if they are just sitting there waiting for the truck driver to show up, I decided I didn't care for that either. My shoe-string budget was shrinking by the minute. Since I am drive distance from the port, about 6 hours, I decided to try to get a refund for delivery and go and get it myself. I was assured that I would be refunded the $615 for delivery.

I located a flat bed car hauler that I could borrow and as long as the dimensions on my invoice were correct and the actual crate was not larger than listed, I would have approx 1" to spare between the wheel wells! I contacted the warehouse and asked if I could uncrate it in their yard before it was loaded if it didn't fit on my trailer in the crate... no dice. So I went for it anyhow, but I came prepared with hammer and chisel if I needed a little wiggle room The package measured out as listed, so things looked good. I wasted a good bit of the fork lift drivers time trying to back under the unit as they held it up from both sides with two fork lifts. Apparently this warehouse that moves millions each day doesn't have a fork-lift with long forks??? Backing up a borrowed trailer that you can't see behind you with 1/2" wiggle room on either side is no easy task, but it eventually got done.

The drive home was uneventful, as was lowering the unit from the trailer into my shop. I jacked up each corner of the machine (3/4" at a time using cribbing) and then placed each onto a 1000lb rated dolly. I laid a plywood ramp over the car trailer ramps and into my shop. I jacked up the tongue on the trailer to get some gravity assistance, all while still hooked to the truck, of course! Then I used a come-along to slowly lower the machine into the shop. Once on the shop floor it moves around easily.

Forgot to mention on the last post my surprise when I uncrated the machine and saw that it had a vacuum table. I did not order this. I kept my fingers crossed that this would be the only mistake made by Quick, but I'd soon discover more that weren't in my favor.

So I opened up the pedestal to take a look at the wiring connections and try to make sense of them. When I saw three hots and one neutral my heart sank. I had ordered the machine down-graded to Single Phase with a 3kw spindle. Looks like somebody dropped the ball.

I snapped photos of everything I thought would matter and began a string of communications with Taney to try to find out what had happened. Turns out that part of the wiring was fine, but part of it was wrong. The transformers that run the steppers were 3 phase and would need changing, but all else appeared fine. I had to move around a couple of wire connections, but that was a simple 5 minute deal once I was told by Taney which ones to move to other terminals. I had my new transformers in hand in about a week, which I thought was really good service. They installed easily in the same slots as the old ones. At the time I had other work that needed doing, so the machine would have been sitting idle anyhow.

From the picture you can see the wiring connections. The circuit breakers on top are what you wire the machine to. The connections on the lower left are for a vacuum. I ended up using the right two connections and a ground strip (not pictured) for my single phase and ignoring the others.

I don't know what others are doing, but I use the circuit breakers into the machine as my switch. If you don't switch them off or unplug the machine there are lights on all the time as well as the pedestal cooling fan. The switch is only going to get used a couple times a day at most, so I don't see this as a problem. If I were turning it on and off all the time I might need a different solution.

Once I finally powered this up I was blown away. I can't believe how quiet the spindle is. At first I thought something was wrong. Even ramping it up to 24000 rpm it is very quiet.

I checked the calibration of the X and Y and they were dead on. I'll check again once I get a spoilboard on and machined. Haven't check Z calibration yet, but from some test cuts it's at least very close if not perfect as well. The Z-Zero height sensor is not as accurate as I would like. The problem is that the actual brass portion is not dead flat. On one side it measures 10.9 mm and the other it measures 11.1 mm. When I calibrate Z I'll also try to nail down the measurement at the center point of this and always try to Z-Zero off the center of it.

Thats bad luck. I don't have a forklift either and I want a door to door delivery so that the crate is unloaded. I would be in a lot of grief if it turned up requiring me to have a forklift.

I am really in two minds right now which way to go. I have seen the 1530 version of this locally CNC Wood Router OR1325A_CNC router Series_Cnc router

Otherwise I don't know much about omni but in person the quality looked very good and if the quick cnc machine looked as good I would be happy.

It looks more like the k60mt than the k45 and is $2k less than quicks k45tm. I have had 3 quotes and both other ones have been ~$2k less than quicks.

The trouble for me is that there is not much information about omni other than having seen the machine. The only obvious difference is that the vacuum sections are operated by levers, not buttons on the console. No biggie there. The vacuum table does have additional T-slots which I like and the vacuum table is part of the base price so I guess it's more like $2400k less and the only difference seems to be the reputation.

I would pay the difference if I knew the difference was there but it's pretty hard to tell and that extra money is basically the cost of the extras, pump, extraction etc...

    It's never easy!

    K45 mt3

    Hello Everyone!!

Just wanted to say, our machine that we've bought from Jinan Quick cnc is working beautiful, there are a few things that we would want to improve, with 3 spindles having different coordinates we have to change coordinates for each tool use, but having 3 tools is still comfortable.

I have a few questions here, if someone could help me would be really appreciated 1) We buy a compression cutter from carbi tech shop here, they don't tell us what's the best speed and rotation for it to be used, last one we bought got worn out very quickly although it was carbide steel, plus are there any better places to buy the in Melbourne?

    2) We also had problems with our spoil boards when cutting sheets, used mdf, other boards, what's the best one?
