    XYZ Tech 1212 Mach Conversion

I've completed a retrofit from NCStudio to Mach 3 on a used machine I found here in the classifieds. I used the same Power Supply, drivers and motors and added a breakout board and ethernet smooth stepper (ESS). Unfortunately, the system loses steps and I need to trouble shoot it. I have the speed down to 150 ipm with acceleration set at 25 and still losing steps.
Anyway, I need to find the best settings for this and was hoping to get 250 ipm out of it with all the $$$ I've dumped into it. Can anyone with one of these chinese machines share their setting in Mach and for the ESS?
Also, is there a test program that will torture test the machine after I make adjustments. I've been using an aztec calendar code but it's a bit overkill!
    Thanks for the help.

Sorry, I can't help you. I have just ordered one that is mach3 ready.

I don't know what to expect though, I don't know if it will come with a mach3 configuration or if I will have to start from scratch trying to set it up so I am looking with interest. The machine I am getting should rapid at ~ 1200ipm so I hope I don't get any issues with M3. I am adding a smoothstepper to the mix as well.

Thanks for the reply Jason. It appears that not many folks want to help so very little information is available!
    Have a good day.

You acceleration seemed to be really high. Our system is different and I'm not sure if this applies. I'm running in metric with my top velocity at 10000mm/min or around 393ipm and my acceleration at only 100mm/s2 or around 4inch/s2. I've not attempted faster acceleration but it seemed to work well without loosing steps. Yours set at 25 meaning 25.4*25 -> 635mm/s2, way faster than my setting. Can you reduce you axis accel to say 5, since you are running in imperial scale, and see if you are still losing steps? then when it doesn't loses steps, increase the acceleration

Hi, if you ordered from china like mine did, it won't come with configuration files when you freshly install mach3 into your pc. you have to set the ports and pin correctly or you risk what happened to my machine, smashed axis limit switches! Yours sounded like a Rack and pinion step, so you might want to figure out how to setup the axis motor in terms of steps per unit in relation to the rack's pitch or any pulley belt that might change the rev ratios. I also just ordered ethernet smooth stepper yesterday to upgrade the usb controller card that came with my jcut. Not that the jcut controller card is no good, but i think using a longer ethernet cable with securing clip is better than just usb plug alone which can lose connectivity if tugged accidentally in the midst of a run. my notebook's usb port sux big time too.

Thanks, yes it is a R&P. I can probably get a default set of settings from the DSP to help me figure out what a good set of defaults should be for mach3. It will get me to ballpark anyway.
