Walter 6545L / CNC 6040 DEAD

Anyone bought this machine out there?

I bought the router from CNCDIY.org few months ago. I have set up the machine according to the manual at the website however, the machine doesn't move at all!!

I used the same desktop to run TB6560, it works! So I thought I won't problem using the same desktop to run Walter but it seems like there is something wrong either I have done/driver board faulty?

I am using a built in parallel port. The E-stop button on the controller seems to be functioning, because Mach 3 requested to release the E-Stop whenever I push the button. After the E-Stop being released, I can reset in Mach 3. I tried jog, no respond, I tried G-code, no movement at all!!

Here are basic setting for Walter in Mach 3.

Port: 0x378
Kernel speed: 35000hz

Axis Step Pin Dir Pin Dir Low Active Step Low Active Step Port Dir Port

Y 4 5 On On 1 1

E-Stop enable. Port:1 - Pin.No.10 - Active Low On

Velocity: 1500
Acceleration: 1200
Step Pulse: 2
Dir Pulse: 2

I am totally new to CNC. Anyone please guide me what am I doing wrong with the router.

Guys, this is link to youtube made by CNCDIY. The router in the video is the same model with the one I purchased. Hopefully someone can help me figuring the pin in Mach 3.

Guys, I have been reading in the forum but not much information about Walter / CNCDIY but I stumble upon the link below and guess what the router finally rumbling to life!!

3040 cncdiy running problems

I missed the USB cable to the 5V controller, which explain the lacks of power to run the router. After I attached the USB (computer) to controller, it seems fine so far. I dry run it first. But the supplier really should advice their buyer about the cable. A newbie like me easily missed the USB cable

Anyway, I tried jog the router in Mach 3 but it wouldn't budge. I tried running G-code, the stepper move quite smoothly. I used MDI Input, the motors run great. Wonder why I cannot jog??

I guess I wasn't brave enough to push the jog button. However after I forced myself pushing jog for Z axis, I find out:

G0 Z2, the axis went down.
G0 Z-2, the axis went up.

So I change Dir Low active to disable.
Dir Low Active: disable

After disabled:

G0 Z2: the axis went up
G0 Z-2: the axis went down

Guess my problem settled for now. Until later if I came across another issue, I will post it here.

Hi.

Please refer to the attachment for the setting. However I should mention that I no longer use Walter. I now using TB board, Walter driver board fried after 11 hours running non-stop for 3 days in row. It was a good machine, very stable, the motors were smooth (TB controls the motors now).

Give it a go and let me know how it turns out. You can always tune the motor.
