    Spindle speed via dsp??

    Hi,

I own a chinese built cnc router. It is equipped with an 3,2kw spindle, a dsp controller an a spindle inverter.
At the moment my dsp and the inverter are ignoring the s-controller data to control the spindle rotation speed.

Is there any possibility to get the spindle controlled by software/dsp?

    thx in advance

    best

    Kai

    Hi Kai,

I asked that same question not too long ago and I was told "the DSP controller does not support S codes, for S code it needs analog signal, while the dsp does not have, it only gets digital signals."

    Hope that helps.

wow - this would be a big disadvantage! But...
The Inverter needs analog signals ok - but isnt there any possibility to transform the digital output from the dsp into an analog signal for the inverter?
For me it sounds not impossible - but without having any idea how to manage.
Perhaps there is somebody outthere who "invented" a workaround to manage it?!

Look in particular to Taney`s post ( no.9 ). Might help you.

There is also a link to an English language DSP manual on the Excitech Threads.

    Hi Rocket,

thx for the link, but after reading the thrad i am as confused as before...
I heard the statement very often that the dsp is not able to control the spindle/inverter.
There are two things wich make me think that there should be a possibility:
My dsp displays the spindle speed and there is a point in the menu

    Proc Spd 3000.00
    Trvl Spd 3000.00
    ZDown Rat 1.00
    Spd Rati 1.00
    Spd Grad 6
    X Axis: 400.00
    Y Axis: 200.00
    Z Axis: 400.00
    A Up mm 100.00
    Drilllval 1.00

wich in my understanding is responsible for the spindle - isnt it?

    Still confused and hoping

    Hi Kai:
the dsp controller supports most G codes, M codes and F code. but it does not support S codes in the g code files. And the Dsp controller company has no plan to make such function controller.
