Some of these Chinese machines are better than other Chinese machines.

There are a lot of Chinese machines and Chinese machine brands on the market, plus, there are metal cutting machines, wood routers, lathes, drill and tapping machines, etc. China is a huge country not a machine tool company...

Some Chinese machines like Hwacheon, or Amura Seiki are nearly top of the line, mostly they would be the more expensive machines.

Yes, some of them are like buying from Harbor Freight, but some of the Harbor Freight stuff isn't half bad either...

There's a pretty good (and long) thread that discusses some specifics here:

Worry not only about the machine's quality, but also about the customer support. I own a horribly expensive paperweight because the seller won't answer my emails about a defective driver.

There are lots of info about chinese machines in this forum (JCUT, Jinan Quick and many others), so I'm sure you'll find some feedback here.

I had a fair bit of problems with one of my machines but Maxicam CNC stood behind their product and honoured all warranty issues and promises. I have my 1530 replacement machine up and running albeit without vacuum pump. I am getting pump rewired for 220V 3ph instead of 380V via a step-up transformer.
