Hi.

I have a chinese SD6090 2,2hp water cooled spindle, G code produced from Vectric V Carve Pro. ( this means advice from the vendor is often hard to decipher - not that they don't try hard - I'm sure they say the same about my ability to explain the problem))

The machine jogs at both available speeds smoothly .

In cutting a curvey guitar shape with one straight section of about 1 3/4" the machine labours and shakes then whizzes cleanly through the small straight section then goes back to groaning and shuddering through the remainder of the outline at a much lower speed.

I first thought there was a levelling issue because of the vibration, but the behaviour persists after carefull levelling of the machine.

I should say that this happens under no load. I took the cutter out and ran it through the air and I get the same result.

Is it a curve cutting thing? I don't remember it happening previously although I'm reasonably new to CNC. But I'm sure there was never a multi speed performance.

Do I need to check the ball screw mountings somehow?

Any suggestions and/or advice appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob.
