Default Z+ Stepper jam / lost steps

    Hello

I have a chinese (Jinan I believe?) CNC router. Sold through Mantech in the UK. Rich Auto a11 DSP controller.

Its about 18months old and has been generally reliable and very good value.

    However...

The stepper motor has started 'jamming' on Z+ operations. It stalls and emits an 'electronic' tonal noise.

This occurs even if the drive belt is removed .i.e it is not a mechanical problem on Z axis.

I have tried reducing the Z max speed right down to 500 (MM/Min) but to no avail.

Its strange because it only happens while running programs. I can set max speed right upto 10000 MM/MIN and jog it up and down just fine.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    John

Its not the motor as we have swapped z & x outputs on interface board and problem moves to X!
