    Default Limit switch triggered

I have had an IH mill running Mach3 for several years now and it has performed very well.

After a 3 month break from running the mill, I cranked it up again and started getting a Reset, Limit Switch Triggered, both when the mill was working and when it was just sitting there. I am sure it is some type of noise problem. Any suggestions on how to diagnose this? I wish Mach3 had some type of error log that would give the source of this problem. Does anyone have any suggestions to troubleshoot this?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
    Jim

I should mention that my debounce in Mach3 is set to 10000, I am using shielded cable and have verified that I have continuity from the cable shield to the common chassis ground.

    10000 debounce ? that's almost half a second ....

is the limit switch normally closed to common?

    if so:

connect a wire jumper from the limit input on the BOB to common

if the problem persists then it is probably the cable to the computer or the BOB or the computer

if the problem goes away then it is probably either the limit switch or the limit switch wiring - loose connector, broken wire, etc

in that case, connect the problem limit switch to the BOB with new wires

if the problem goes away then it's in the wiring

if it persists then it may be a bad limit switch

if nothing helps then it may be an earth ground issue - all cable shields should be tied to one single ground point - no branches and never ground a shield on both ends

    Thanks for your suggestions.

I can rule out a grounding problem. I have only one ground and no branch circuits.

I have just one question before I tackle your other suggestions. What is a BOB?
