    First Pour With Electric Furnace

    Hello All,
Long time lurker first time poster
I have finally got my furnace up and running and have done my first pour. It is an electric furnace, it is square (on the outside) and has a sand pit at the end so i can pour in saftey. The whole thing is on casters so i can move it away when not in use. It draws about 3KW, has a PID temp controller and it averages around a 1deg temp increase per second. My crucible is an old disposable gas bottle, great for the first pour.............second pour, hmm maybe looking for something else
Needless to say I feel 10 foot tall and made of..steel after my first pour and my wife thinks I am really brave and strong too

I'll upload some pics...when my 9 year old daughter show me how

It takes a real man to admit that his 9 year old knows more than he does

Good luck on the furnace and it is nice to see that you are not pouring over concrete and that saftey is alreadey on your mind.

It is nice to see that the 9 year old got the files attached.

I hope she isn't learning how to make aluminum muffins like her dad. I will bet that they are tough on the teeth.

Congrats on a real nice build.

Are you going to post details on what you used for coils and such?

The bricks and Kaolin? look very nicely done.
