    Smile Thermocouples for hot metals

    Hi

Does anyone know what kind of thermocouples can measure temperature of molten metal particularly Aluminium.

Someone suggested me about K-type thermocouples. Do i need to make a refractory coating around.

Is it capable of measuring the temperature at the metal mold interface??
and does it actually need to penetrate the molten metal.

    Please Advice......

I use K type thermocouples. I stick it right into the molten metal to take a reading. Mine have lasted quite a few melts already without going bad.
