would anyone know if its possible to melt aluminum and brass into an alloy, if not why? i know the melting points are different , ive done aluminum but havent tried brass yet, i do sand casting and make my own molds, this is my first time posting here hope ive done it right thanks .![]()

That is a nice link....thanks.... Many people do create alloys using aluminum and brass, or zinc and brass too. Melt your aluminum first and the add your copper or brass to the melt. This way, you won't need to get to the higher copper melting point...the copper will be dissolved into the aluminum. I melt a lot of lock parts which are a mixture of brass, aluminum and zinc. I always get nice machinable metal.
