We are currently working with the Developer of DeskCNC on some really exciting new features. It is jam packed with features at the moment, but still we keep adding more. DeskCNC is a real winner in PC CNC control. Our company distributes it with ALL of our cnc control systems. We have tried a lot of others but they don't make the grade. REAL TIME = REAL PROBLEMS and deskCNC has made it REAL EASY, you don't have to run XP, you don't have to have a certain type of PC Hardware and it just keeps getting better and better.

Big thumbs up for DeskCNC - Keep posted as there will be some announcements about DeskCNC and surrounding products in the near future. If you are tossing up what software to get, I can really recommend DeskCNC, not because I distribute it, but because I have been through all of the exploritory work myself.

Well, aside from the current lack of backlash compensation for arcs and circles, a tool height function which half works and a manual befitting a TV dinner, it's a very useable package. The developer provides a user forum and good support -- which leaves me with some degree of confidence that updates will address user issues. For the price of the package (hardware and software), it's the most competent that I've used by far.

Has anyone ever gotten DeskCNC to actually work?

I purchased a package IN DECEMBER, 2010 - and despite literally months of headaches it still won't work as advertised.

If there is any way you can swap that DeskCNC package for the Mach3 I would do it even at added cost. Mach3 and CamBam and you'll be happy. Deskcnc, you can make it work but it will be mostly on your own via trial and error. If its not practical to convert there are a few guys on the Sherline CNC yahoo group that were a great help to me and other.

I guess if I want to see the deskcnc boards in action I will have to attend. I have purchased the gen 1 and gen 2 boards and an update chip for the gen 1 and haven't been able to get either of the boards to work. it has become not a minor investment for a conversation piece. Shortly after I had purchase the boards they started charging for tech support. this all took place several years ago-shortly after the gen 2 came out. maybe next year!
