Question Deskcnc Skipping Lines Of Code

Ok here is what i did; 1. I downloaded a dxf file form internet.
    2. I opened it up in deskcnc.
    3. I see the drawing in cam mode.
    4. I then move it from its org. place and place it closer to my 0,0
useing the edit drop down box and use the move button
    5. I sel single and click on the inner holes to be cut away from the
spokes of the gear useing (contour).
    6. Then I go to run machine (to create my tool paths)
    7. Now I go to (machine mode).
    8. I go and hit the (Go button); It then comes up and tells me bad character
line 198.... But there is no line 198, The line code skips every even # thru
    out the code.
WHATS UP WITH THIS? IS IT WRONG OR RIGHT ? OR DID I DO SOMETHING
    WRONG?
    9. By the way I'am new to this. Thanks Brady

    Try this:

    Hi Brady,

First ensure that you have the correct post processor selected, Options->Misc and at the bottom select ISO-GCode-non modal.

Once you have moved your part, be sure to 'deselect all' and then select the parts that you need. Chose a cycle, generate the tool path and click on 'run machine', DeskCNC will prompt you for a file name, click save or append depending on what you want and then you will enter the 'Edit' screen.

    Hope this helps,
    Greg

    Different cycles

    Hi Brady,

DeskCNC offers 4 different cycles, 'contouring','pocketing',drilling' and 'parrallel lacing' (in the stl menu).

Greg, I'm not working with a stl file format. I'm not understanding what you are talking about other than this. To tell you the truth I really dont know what an stl is for. I'm really new to this. I cant even begin to figure out what all this is, (File foremat and what programs produce these formats)
    such as: 1. stl ?
    2. stl for rotary ?
    3. Hpgl ?
    4. open point cloud ?
    5. gerber ?
    6. digitizer ?
    7. foam cutter ?
I would really like to know how and what all i need. But back to the problem
You think im not doing it right. and you are more than likely right yourself its just that i really dont have a clue. shed the light my way. Thanks Brady
