    Hello from Alberta

    Hello fellow Canadians

been a lurker for quite awhile now, and though i would at least say Hi! I am in Spruce Grove (just west of Edmonton) and am starting to plan my build of a JGRO style CNC.

I am hoping to be able to source some of the parts here locally in Edmonton, so if anyone has some suggestions I would love to hear them, or even if there is someone local that would like to help a noob with this endeavor that would be awesome as well hehe

    Talk to you all later!

    Grov (mark)

If there is anywhere local to get the ACME lead screws etc. If anyone has already build one that i might be able to come take a look at and see one in real life, that kind of stuff

    Hello friends!

I'm also a new member, located here in Alberta (though I'm from BC). I'm down in Calgary.

I am also interested in sourcing parts locally, so I might drop you a line sometime to see if you have found some good suppliers within a province or two.

The reason I have joined is to take advantage of the immense wealth of knowledge here. I am doing some research about building a CNC router table able to mill shapes out of 4X8 sheets of plywood (most likely 3/4" max).

Cheers, and so sorry about your Oilers this year...

    Riley (thebigidea)

HI .. I am also in Alberta.. just north of Calgary. I having been reading and watching for several years now, building a new house and shop. After 3 years the shop is ready to add a new machine. I am planning to build a 4ft by 6ft cnc wood router. I have a metal light box frame that I got at an auction for dirt cheap. I will also be in need of parts and more info..

    Welcome to the forum Mark.
Princess Auto has been a pretty good source for oddities, but not necessarily cnc specific.

When I lived in Calgary, I was unable to find a source for CNC stuff. I bought most of parts from McMaster Carr. Fast service, good selection, reasonable shipping costs, no brokerage fees Just remember that you must be a registered business or they won't deal with you. I used my place of employment.

Hello Grovian, I built up my 3 x 6 machine last summer. There aren't a lot of Canadian suppliers out there unfortunately. BDI Canada (http://www.bdi-canada.com/) does have a good selection of linear rails and bearing supports. They also carry ACME lead screws and ball screw assemblies. I purchased the majority of my stuff from our friends south of the border. Fastenal (http://www.fastenal.com/web/search/p...N-gj53ve&Nty=0) carries a line of linear gear as well. Hope this helps you out.
