Hello all and everyone who tunes in.
Just signed up, never been in before. Cool site. Will take time to learn my way around in here.
Just a quick note on who I am and why I am in here.
Myself (Sean), my dad (Tom Sr.) and my brother (Tom Jr.) all have different levels of machining experience. My dad and my bro both have done way more then I over the years. My Dad runs a marine shop (Toms Marine & Sports) though is semi retired and has always worked on engine and whatever comes his way. "The Shop" as we have always labelled it is the place where anything can get made or repaired... or so I have been brought up to believe.
A couple of years ago my dad decided it was time to get a mill and was very close to getting a manual one and ended up with a Haas TM-1. None of us had any experience with cnc. So the learning curve went through the roof. Now the intent was not to get production going on anything inparticular but to simply learn and enjoy.. and see what gets made.
Dad as I said is semi-retired but as for Tom and I, we both work full time. The last couple years none of us have put the time we wanted to put in on the Mill, but have still managed to get a few chips in the air.. With much fun and some personal growth we have all been rather addicted to "Hal" as we have come to call the mill.
I have recently purchased a Novakon NM-070 for use where I work. Since 1993/94 Myself and a friend have run a small 'mom and pap' sized hobby store with our main sales coming from RC trucks, cars, boats, planes, helis and the list goes on and on. My bro and I have recently decided to undertake the 'hobby' of pool Cue repair and have just recieved our Cue Lathe.
in a very short time I will recieve the novakon at our doorstep and cannot wait to get started spitting chips.
hello and if there is anyone out there who uses Novakon or TM-1 and has any pointers for the novice out there, feel free to write.
Cheers for now.
